The former Barcelona youth academy starlet has chosen to run down his contract in Paris in search of more first team football opportunities in the Eredivisie instead.

New PSV Eindhoven manager Ruud van Nistelrooy reportedly played a key role in convincing the midfielder to move back to his homeland, with the player rejecting a substantially larger contract to join Real Madrid’s youth side Real Madrid Castilla.

Simons, 19, who made 7 appearances for the Parisians last season, now embarks on his first full season of first team football. The midfielder joins PSV Eindhoven this summer along with new signings Luuk de Jong and Guus Til.
