Frank Lampard’s Everton are closing in on the free transfer signing of James Tarkowski following his release from Burnley.
Personal terms have now been agreed, with the signing representing something of a coup for the Goodison Park side given the interest in the player. Leicester City and Newcastle United had both made contact with the player representatives, although it’s understood the Mancunian’s preference is to remain in the North West.
Starting his career at Oldham ,Tarkowski joined Burnley in 2016 from Brentford, and went on to make over 200 appearances for the Turf Moor side.
The twice capped England international joins a list of 6 first team players leaving Burnley this month following their relegation. The club moved to thank players Ben Mee, Phil Bardsley, Dale Stephens, Erik Pieters, Aaron Lennon and Tarkowski on the official Twitter page on Friday.
