Liverpool is closing in on the signing of Aberdeen right back Calvin Ramsay, with the deal now close to completion and medical examinations scheduled for next week.
The Premier League giants have beaten a number of clubs to the Scottish wonderkid’s signature, with strong interest coming from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City and Italian sides Napoli and Cagliari.
Ramsay has enjoyed a breakout season at Pittodrie making 33 appearances, providing 9 assists for his team-mates, and scoring 1 goal. The defender also won the Scottish Football Writers Association Young Player of the Year Award.
The young defender will be joining Liverpool to provide cover and competition for England international Trent Alexander-Arnold. The Anfield club played the majority of last season without a recognised understudy to Alexander-Arnold, with James Milner and Joe Gomez filling in when required.
The Scottish under-21 international is expected to arrive in Liverpool on a reported £4million deal, plus various add-ons. Jurgen Klopp’s side are expected to fund the deal with the sale of Neco Williams to Fulham.
