- Chelsea midfielder can pick and choose his destination this summer
- Strong interest in Seria A from Rome clubs Lazio and AS Roma
- Tuchel trusts the player and is pushing to unleash his potential
A multitude of teams across Europe are chasing Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s signature this summer, with a potential exit from Standford Bridge seemingly more likely than ever.
The midfielder has enjoyed a resurgence in form under Tuchel at Chelsea this season, making over 40 appearances, but is still considered a squad player who is yet to realise his full potential. This manager underlined his views after Chelsea’s recent lose to Arsenal: “He needs to push himself to the limit; he needs to be physical,” said the Chelsea boss.
“He needs to discover this monster in him and unleash this on a regular basis because it is absolutely necessary. It is not enough to be just on the pitch. Maybe if you regard his last years, it may seem good because he is a regular but this is not enough. We cannot let him think it is enough, he needs to constantly push himself.” added Tuchel.
“We try every day and are quite successful given his development. He needs to understand how much potential he has and unleash this physical capacity on the daily. In training he cannot let loose. He needs to be under pressure and play every game like a cup final.” Loftus-Cheek is certainly not short of admirers this summer with strong links to Serie A being reported in the Italian press. Joining former manager Jose Mourinho at A.S. Roma is the natural link given the success of another Chelsea academy Tammy Abraham.
City rivals Lazio are also in the running, viewing Loftus-Cheek as a genuine replacement for Milinković-Savić who seems destined to change projects for the 2022-23 season. Seville are also reported to be among other overseas clubs chasing his signature.
Chelseamidfield also has numerous options open to him in the Premier League.
Former team Fulham are looking for quality reinforcements following their promotion, whilst Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Brighton, Southampton and notably West Ham all hold a strong interest in the player. The latter reportedly being front of the cue should Loftus-Cheek become available.
