- Club legend Modric signs on for at least one more season with Los Blancos
- The midfielder played a pivotal role in securing the LaLiga and Champions League titles last season
- The Croatian has won every major honour during his 10-year stay at the Santiago Bernabéu, including the 2018Ballon d’Or
Real Madrid have unsurprisingly announced the extension of star midfielder Luka Modric’s contract until 2023.
The Croatian midfielder signs on for another campaign with Los Blancos after another trophy laden season in the capital. Real Madrid secured the La Liga and Champions League double last term, with Modric making 45 appearances in all competitions, and providing 12 assists for his team-mates.
Modric, 36, has won it all several times over during his 10-year stay in Madrid. 15 major trophies, including five Champions League titles and three La Liga titles make up an impressive C.V for the Croatian.
He also won the 2018 Ballon d’Or, becoming the first player in a decade to win the award other than Ronaldo and Messi.
The club legend is now signing on for an impressive 11th straight season for the European Champions. His form and fitness continue to prove that age is just a number for the diminutive midfielder.
“I’m very happy and proud to continue at least one more year in Real Madrid,” he said in a video posted on the club’s Twitter account.
“I want to continue to give everything for the club – I am proud to continue wearing this shirt.”
